Birthday at the Biltmore
June is birthday month… yes the whole month!
Each year I use my birthday as an excuse to take a trip to some awesome places that typically include an impressive garden and my 2022 birthday trip did not disappoint. This trip had a few stops planned along the way, but the focal of the trip was a place that had long been on my list to visit – The Biltmore Estate.
Nested amongst the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Ashville, North Carolina, the estate sits on 8,000 acres ready to be explored. We started our trip with the Monet immersive art exhibit, and if you don’t already know Monet’s art, he frequently incorporated beautiful paintings of flowers and stunning blooming garden landscapes. After the exhibits we walked on winding wooded paths lined with blooming rhododendrons, and as we crested the hill, the breathtaking Biltmore Mansion came into view in the distance. A tour of the largest privately owned home in the United States displayed its elaborate architecture and rich history dating back to 1890’s. Intricately surrounding the mansion were absolutely beautiful gardens and greenhouses that we spent the afternoon strolling around and taking it all in.
If the mansion and gardens weren’t impressive enough, there’s a whole village with the cutest little shops, winery, barns, lodging, restaurants, and rolling farm fields full of endless adventurous opportunities. I won’t ruin the entrance and all the details of the winery for you, book a trip and go see for yourself.
As the night winded down in the beautifully lit town, we made our way back to our room for a restful sleep. After another morning exploring Biltmore, we headed to the nearby Smokey Mountain National Park to camp, hike, and bike.
My 2022 birthday trip was certainly one for the books. The Biltmore is a place I highly recommend visiting, I know I plan to go back. Ashville is a cute town full of little shops as well that’s worth visiting alone. This month’s birthday trip is in the works and I can’t wait to travel to some new places.
